Glues for canopies, a few questions.

What Kari wrote about “many answers” applies... I am with BlackSheep on the side of canopy glue. My reason: the elasticity and stretch of a thin bead of canopy glue to my mind outweighs the far less yielding adhesion of Tamiya Extra Thin... As a test I used drops of canopy glue to attach white metal landing gear legs directly to a modified wheel well of the 1/48 Trimaster FW 190 D9. To this day, the struts remain attached to the aircraft.

I've used Tamiya Extra Thin on canopies. Most of the time with no problems. I did have it fog up my clear parts at least once. This was the canopy on a 1/48 109DE-4 build a few years back. The canopy was dipped into Future prior to attachment and was glued into place using TET. After all of the painting was done and the canopy masks removed, there was some fogging on the inside of the canopies.




I managed to pry off the center canopy piece, wipe it clean and re-attach.

Okay, gotcha. So it can indeed happen under certain conditions.
