Just took a quick look at the stash. About 40% are vehicles (tanks, etc.) or multi-engine of some sort.

I was big into SEF in 1/72 scale back in the day when WWII was the Big War Subject all us boys talked about when we were kids. There were all the comics, movies, books, and models showing all these awesome SEF from WWII so we all had to have as many as we could get (especially since we "wargamed" or collections against each other).

Later on in my teens, when I learned more and more about my father's involvement in Vietnam, as well as all the exposure to the modern Air Force through him; I got more interested in jets. I also researched Korea more; especially after watching M*A*S*H on TV all those same years.


Now, I still do a few SEF occasionally when I find something I haven't built yet; or when I decide to try new techniques or attempt to improve my skills even more. Most of my time, however is now taken up with completing a full line of transport aircraft; 'modern' Russian bombers, and large seaplanes along with more Vietnam-era and post-Vietnam-era jets; all in 1/72 scale, of course.

That being said, I'm still building both WWII and modern armor and military vehicles; which outnumber my aircraft by at least 200 or more. My aircraft do outnumber my navy and civilian ships by a little over 100 or so.



Okay, that's my contribution to this Thread. I do need to get a final count of all my models I have built. Maybe I'll try that this weekend.......

Actually, I'll be helping a friend on Saturday build his Haunted Yard for Halloween. On Sunday I might be able to get some counted. Fortunately, I already know how many armor and military vehicles I have so one third of the job is done.

Two of my favorite fighters are the P-38 Lightening and the Me 110 I love the look of those twin engine birds.I wouldn't say that I favor one over the other,but there were a lot more distinguished single engine then twin engine fighters.

My favorite single engine,Corsair and Mustang.

Some really interesting responses guys - and one thing I find interesting is that a lot of you guys here at SPAM don't favour SEF over other stuff.

Which is what I said in my opening post - I love the mix of stuff we see built here.

I've always loved WWII SEF - asides from being cool I love the history behind them and the guys that flew them (no matter what their Nationality) - but I love RAF aircraft most of all.

Also, there is a HUGE variety...quite possibly more-so than any other genre.
Also, the variety within the variety...ie...P-51A, A-36, P-51B (B w/standard canopy, B w/ Malcom hood), P-51D, P-51H, F-51, F-82...then the variety of schemes.
