That's interesting Borg, you've certainly had much better results than I did with Humbrol Clear Rattlecans as I've tried the Gloss, Satin and Matt and not had great results with any. Did you use any techniques in particualr?

Which enamel cote is idiot safe, btw?
I can't even think of an enamel clear off the top of my head. I haven't used any actually. Was thinking more along the lines of enamel paint myself actually....
Yeah I've used Enamel paint over the top of Arcylic - seemed to work ok, not sure if I'd do it the otherway without leaving a good long time for it to cure.

Yes, an AB is a very helpful thing and makes lots of works easy. In the end its your decision of course.

Marabu clear coat? Yes please! The figure modeller/painter in me says "very good stuff" - as well as the colors itself and the clear cotes too. If you want to make sure it doesnt ruin your model first choice is acrylics. And Marabu are. I use them very often.

Basic rules:

Enamel base + Enamel finish: YES
(read the instructions thoroughly and check twice if they fit together!)

Enamel base + Acrylic finish: YES

Acrylic base + Acrylic finish: YES

Acrylic base + Enamel finish - HANDS OFF!!!
I don't know Lucas - I think I qualitfy - what I thought it was going to look like over a dark blue base I don't know. It's annoying though as I thought it was thin enough - obviously not.
