Welcome to my world Jim!
I build exclusively in 1/72 scale; both aircraft
and armor! In my opinion, it's God's own scale; or as one other friend calls it: the One True Scale.
I could also say: Welcome to the Dark Scale, we have cookies!
I started out building exclusively 1/72 scale because I loved having consistency in my collection. It was also easier to see the relative sizes of every aircraft (and vehicle) to every other aircraft and vehicle. Then there is the same reasons Fermis gave which to me is just cream on the cupcake.
So, have fun and savor the moments of building every new 1/72 scale jet!

Well I just finished a 1/72 jet and I liked it. I don't see myself doing any WW2 fighters or anything, but I could end up doing more modern stuff. It's a quick way to get something off the bench, but still lots of fun. No more scale-ism...maybe?
Sorry, can't share pics right now, but in time.
Welcome to the real world
The one true scale.

Hey that's good - Looking forward to seeing it.
It's good to try something different now and then, every scale has it's pros and cons but 1/72 is pretty cool, especially if you like to have a constant scale accross lots of era's and 1/72 Jets can be really nice - Revell seem to be knocking ut some pretty good kits atthe moment.
I build mostly 1/72 - I did try 1/48th and 1/24th for a while but it wasn't my thing - besides the small stuff is cheeper!

The nice thing about 1/72 is that I could crank out a build of even the most complex stuff in two weeks...no AM...get a completion under me and feel that sense of satisfaction from a completion while larger more involved kits linger on the bench.
And that is one main reason, besides the scale consistency; that I love building in 1/72 scale.

Yeah. I'm focusing more snd note on 1/72 stuff. Started out as a 48th builder, but necessity demanded I build smaller kits in the dorm room. Now, I'm hooked.
Between the lower prices, ease of display and an incredible variety of subjects.... I might just be here to stay!

That is definitely nice to hear. As someone who has been building in 1/72 scale almost exclusively for more than 40 years, I've seen way to many people who do turn their noses up at it. Intolerant people truly annoy me.
