Okay, I am back home now, and I didn't embarrass myself enough on our trip, so I will bite on this thread, lol.
Some of you may have seen some of these photos on other sites, but, they fit this theme here to a T.
My very first model ever, first built in 1965, the Revell 1/72 Corsair. Rebuilt a couple of years ago to replace lost and broken parts, to an idea inspired by Jeffrey Harrison before he passed away. Sadly I didn't have it finished in time, so he didn't see my hand brushed application of Testors small bottle Sea Blue.
This is the Revell 1/72 F-4B, done sometime in the seventies, soon after I got my first Hasegawa A-6 Intruder model, I robbed the bombs and bomb racks from one of those kits to do one of the Test Program Phantoms with 22 500 pound bombs.
A very bad photo of a very bad attempt at a 1/72 FJ-2 in Marines markings,,,,,,,I used the old Hasegawa F-86 kit and slammed a Skyhawk nose gear onto it for the front strut and called it a Fury. This was sometime around the time that Ginter got up to the Fury in his book series,,,,,maybe in the mid Eighties?
Hasegawa's TA-4J Skyhawk 1/72, the one that gives us the two seater shorter than the single seater, because they got the single seater wrong by many FEET in length. When newer kits came out in the right length, I saved all of my single seat Hasegawa kits and gradually picked up the two seat fuselages at shows, etc, and used those for conversions.
Here are two kits that are either Airfix or Starfix,,,,,,,,,,or Hasegawa or Starfix, I honestly don't remember which.
First, the Airfix or Starfix A4D-1, in the USAirfix kit markings. (this build is living proof that Testors enamels covered with Testors Dullcote will yellow over time, Haha)
And lastly, a Naval Fighter Weapons School T-38 built back before Microscale released a decal sheet for them. I mixed paints up by looking at a photo, grabbed decal bits from my spares box, and built the Hasegawa or Starfix model Out Of the Box.
This "T-38" kit has the pegs in the side of the fuselage to mount the crude pilots to. I have a more modern T-38 kit, the Microscale decals, and good Aeromaster FS matched paints, I plan to build this same aircraft again and stand them together as a "Then and Now" model pair. I also have a re-release of that ancient Revell Corsair that I can do with modern paints and decals on the antique tooling, for another "Then and Now" pair.
These models vary from 30 to 50 years old, and are all that I have from those decades in my modeling "career". I hope this brings a smile or even a laugh for some of you.

This is actually the first time I read something about a Starfix kit without curse words and swearing being used. Those kits are most often described as dogs.

Borg, the funny part is that I don't see the kits that Starfix based most of their kits off of being bashed all that much.
One of my favorite lines to shake people up is to say that the Starfix T-38 is Hasegawa quality, and the Starfix A4D is Airfix quality. People will back and fill for an hour trying to find the flaw in those two statements,,,,,because they "Just know" that Starfix is all crap kits.
The real truth is that the Hasegawa and Starfix T-38 kits were the only game in town in 1/72 until the Esci F-5B came out.
One of my favorite lines to shake people up is to say that the Starfix T-38 is Hasegawa quality, and the Starfix A4D is Airfix quality. People will back and fill for an hour trying to find the flaw in those two statements,,,,,because they "Just know" that Starfix is all crap kits.

This one is by far my worst. I hate it. Just about everything is wrong with it. The main landing gear broke several times and it sits to one side and is a massive tail sitter.

LoL.... great discussion thread! Ok...time to show off my 'hall of shame'. Here is a Academy Mirage III I build way back in '95 twenty years ago. All hand painted with Tamiya acrylics, everything was OOTB of course.
